The Zombies were never the most exciting-looking band in rock history. The guys basically resembled a yearbook picture of a ’60s high-school forensics club. So what better way to enhance their visual image than to age for a quarter of a century? The Zombies were undeniably great, and Zombie Heaven is easily one of my favorite box sets by any single band. But now the prime movers for the original Zombies—the ivory-tickling Rod Argent and the golden-throated Colin Blunstone—have made the questionable decision to reunite and record the first Zombies release since 1968’s legendary Odessey & Oracle. As far as how the new one, As Far As I Can See, sounds, well, let’s just say that Zombie Heaven is still one of my favorite box sets by any single band. The Zombies play with Love at 9 p.m. at the State Theatre, 220 North Washington St., Falls Church. $30. (703) 237-0300. (David Dunlap Jr.)
