SUNDAY
For some people, the fact that a band sounds like James doesn’t even register on the things-important-in-life-o-meter. And they’re right: It’s those kindergarten values—knowing to share your toys, be quiet at nap time, and not invade another country whenever you feel like it—that are important. Remember these things should you go see Brooklyn’s much-lauded (Sounds like New Order! Sounds like Gang of Four!) Oxford Collapse. Be thinking that the members of that band are probably really nice fellas who are trying their best to make “eccentric” music that isn’t a horribly recorded retread of a retread. Stay positive—it’s what your kindergarten teacher would want you to do. The Oxford Collapse plays at with Two If by Sea and the Positions at 8:30 p.m. at the Warehouse Next Door, 1017 7th St. NW. $7. (202) 783-3933. (Mike Kanin)
