Once-again Ward 8 Councilmember Marion Barry sees the world differently from Sandy Allen—especially when it comes to furniture. Barry, who inherited Allen’s office furnishings, wasn’t pleased with the pastel-blue color scheme of one of her former couches, which Barry spokesperson Linda Greene calls “very feminine.” So the sofa has been sent out for reupholstering; Greene says the likely replacement tone is maroon, Barry’s favorite color. This will come as a relief to Vincent Gray. The new Ward 7 representative may not have spent as much time in local elected office as Barry, but he’s been around long enough to have seen Allen’s couch: When asked about the offending furniture, Gray opines, “I didn’t like it.” —Mike Kanin
