I was distressed that David Morton’s article “Lost in Space” (1/14) listed the main branch of the D.C. Public Library in its list of “dead spots where you wouldn’t want to be caught alive.” Surely, lack of seating in front of the building shouldn’t qualify it for this “dead” list. Although our building is hardly in optimal condition, the wealth of information and resources within are almost mind-boggling.

Perhaps this article is whimsical; nevertheless, it may be misunderstood by young folks and others who will see this list and, possibly, be scared away from one of the most important resources in our city.
