Re Barney Circle (“Lost in Space,” 1/14): You should talk to a historian. For years this was where the eastbound No. 30 and No. 90 streetcars met some of the westbound buses. Picture two horseshoes lying closed ends together. There was a small covered platform, with a Barney Circle restaurant at the south end, where you could get a very good breakfast.

One of the sayings when I was growing up was if you were to lose a bet, you had to kiss the winner’s ass at Barney Circle.
