Oh the things I’ve learned reading the Washington City Paper the last two years: Cops are malevolent at worst, stupid and lazy at best; obesity is a good thing (if you’re a black woman); child molesters are just misunderstood. Last week’s cover story (“Gentrification and Its Discontents,” 2/4) taught me that attempting to improve one’s neighborhood is futile and, better, laughable.

Oh those morons in Columbia Heights! I wait in anticipation for the following features: “Every Cop Is a Criminal and All the Sinners Saints” and “Arrogant Cynicism Is the Only Real Joy in Life” (a Jason Cherkis cover?). Keep that anti-conventional-wisdom stuff coming—you’re really turning the world on its head!
