Thanks for publishing the article by Carollyn James (“Gullible Travels,” 5/13). It was well-written and of course informative. You’d be surprised how many of us have known about this online money-order scam for a while but didn’t know how to get the word out.
I work as a provider of entertainment services here in D.C., and many—I mean many!—of us have received these e-mails. A few have suffered a loss, too. I’m sorry to hear about James’ troubles but appreciate the fact that she took the time—and your savvy editors took the time—to publish an article about them. That scam could affect a lot of innocent, honest online folks from all avenues of life.
