Cheap Seats (“The Walker Brigade,” 5/27) frets about intentional walks in high-school baseball becoming routine but mentions only en passant intentional beanballs (pitches thrown so as to hit or even injure the batter): “Bianucci was also hit by pitches four times—and not necessarily by accident.” At the professional level this would not be tolerated, but at the high-school level, it is shocking!

How can Dave McKenna minimize so insouciantly what should be the real story? Or does he take clandestine delight at these 18-year-olds who can “hit a third-inning fastball 430 feet for a home run” and will soon be in the pros making more than even the highest-paid Washington City Paper scribe ever, getting beaned?
