OK, here it goes: I think Steve Buscemi is way hot. My old roommate was wild over Thom Yorke’s club foot. And an anonymous girlfriend of mine harbors a soft spot for men with cleft-palate scars. Mainstream media sources can flood consumers with images of pristinely geometrical trouser models, but it cannot thwart a gnarly-toothed smile’s power to render me spontaneously topless. “Tearing at the Seams” takes a timeout from the relentlessly touted conventional-beauty model to celebrate the “hairy hotties, freaks, queers, flat-chested foxes, [and] mustached matrons” among us. Intended to expose alternative notions of beauty and style, the show collects designers, models, artists, and performers for an evening extravaganza of catwalks, clothing, and crafts. Brazenly gawk at your gawky dream boy at 7 p.m. at the Market 5 Gallery, 7th Street and North Carolina Avenue SE. $10 (suggested donation; proceeds benefit Different Avenues). (202) 543-7293.
