A teacher reported to the Principal that the grandmother of a student responded to her classroom #213, knocked on the door asking for her granddaughter. The teacher told the grandmother that she was teaching math at the time and that her granddaughter could not be excused from the class. The grandmother…stated to the teacher, “I’ll kick your ass after school.” Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) was notified and responded. No report taken. Administrative action pending for the grandmother.

Gibbs Elementary School

April 28, 2005, 8:35 p.m.

The godmother of a student reported to the assistant principal that she received a call…from a male teacher at her residence. The teacher asked to speak to the student. The teacher then asked to speak to the student’s mother. The mother stated that the teacher asked her inappropriate questions. For example, “Do you get high?” “Do you go out?” and “Would you like to go out with me?” The student’s mother stated that the student came home with $15.00, which the student claims she found. MPD not notified. A Watkins Investigator was notified and responded to the school. The case is being investigated.

Corporal Punishment

Adams Elementary School

May 17, 2005, 1 p.m.

The principal pulled a student by the neck and stated, “I see why someone would want to stab you.” A reading coordinator witnessed the incident and instructed security to complete a report. The student entered the health suite crying and informed the school-assigned nurse that the principal had pulled his neck. The student did not sustain injury. Security notified MPD. MPD did not complete a report. A Watkins Investigator will be assigned to the case. Administrative action is pending.
