FRIDAY

David Quammen proudly calls himself “the purveyor of naked flesh in the city.” And now that Quammen, head of the Figure Models Guild of Washington, D.C., has assumed greater control over day-to-day operations at Georgetown’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA DC), you can bet on seeing a lot more skin there. This month, the gallery hosts an exhibition titled “Celebration of the Figure II,” an epidermal orgy spanning all sorts of media “so long as it is nude or mostly so,” according to Quammen’s call for submissions. Among the “mostly so” crowd will be Mina, a belly dancer who, Quammen says, will assume various stages of dress and undress as she changes costumes every hour on the hour during tonight’s opening reception. Her gyrating abs will highlight the Arabic theme of this year’s figure-model celebration—minus those itchy burqas, of course. Quammen also plans to have a hookah on hand. As a prop. The only thing smokin’ will be all those hot bods. Get your flesh fill at 6 p.m. at MOCA DC, 1054 31st St. NW. Free. (202) 342-6230. (Chris Shott)
