Along Emerson Street NW in Petworth, street-corner regulars have been spotted wearing the latest in intimidation fashion: T-shirts emblazoned with stop signs and the word “SNITCHIN” printed below. A Petworth resident felt targeted by the shirts and in early September sent a plea to the neighborhood’s message board. “I understand the threat, but can’t believe that I’m going to be left alone to deal with this,” the resident wrote. “Please help.” On Sept. 7, police arrested Eddie Dubose, one of the alleged fashionistas. A search of his car turned up a loaded .40 Sig Sauer handgun, packets of weed, a digital scale, and roughly 25.8 grams of cocaine, according to court records. “Our narcotics unit was aware there was an issue over there,” explains Capt. Anthony Poteat. “We set up an operation, located him, and locked him up.” —Jason Cherkis
