To claim that the Terminal Lovers is an “evolving band”—as the band does on the act’s MySpace page—is generous. Sure, members seem to change wholesale, but no matter the lineup, the quintet’s cheeseball riffage stays pretty much the same. At some point, the Cleveland-based act boasted two members of Pere Ubu and a guy from both Guided by Voices and Cobra Verde—a fact that just goes to show, once again, that the phrase “ex-member of” means exactly nothing. Indeed, the Terminal Lovers represent everything bad about the metal revival: Priest may have been great for two years, two decades ago, but get the fuck over it and move on. The Terminal Lovers play at 9:30 p.m. at DC9, 1940 9th St. NW. $8. (202) 483-5000. (Mike Kanin)
