Within the vast wasteland of dickweed bands on MySpace, a throwback-punk act like the Twats isn’t necessarily a mighty wind of righteousness, but the D.C. fivesome certainly offers a breath of…something. Right there under “Band Members,” the list has Lord Taint on drums, Cuntess Twat on vox, Ducky on guitar, Rusty Trombone on bass, and Sir Drunks a Lot on guitar. That tells you everything you really need to know: We’ve got a bunch of self-aware noisemakers on our hands—the kind who know their history and definitely know the difference between “stoopid” and “stupid.” The Cuntess herself seems to be the main attraction, dropping some Brody Dalle and some Beth Ditto but mostly just gettin’ feral in her own way with lyrics about bad bosses, Philly nazis, and, well, twatty girls. Joan Rivers probably would be proud, and maybe Sam Kinison, too. The Twats play with the Aks at 9 p.m. on the Black Cat’s Mainstage, 1811 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960. (Joe Warminsky)
