FRIDAY
The highlight of “Little Creatures” is not the dead squirrel with googly eyes but Thomas M. Lowery’s graphite-and-watercolor drawings featuring his recurring “Skeleton Kids.” The Kids, many clad in ill-fitting bras, chat about relationships. Her: “He’ll definitely marry me when he finds out I’m pregnant!” Him: “How do I tell her I don’t love her?” Lowery is also showing 10 small mixed-media works, including one of a sad girl with the caption “Chloë wishes she would have stopped at second base.” Lowery is trying to “illustrate naive romantic feelings,” according to the artist’s statement, but it’s funny how the melodramatic emotions still ring true for grown-up relationships. The show, which also features works by Marci Branagan, Julie Jenkinson, and Maki Maruyama, is on view from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. (see City List for other dates) at Transformer, 1404 P St. NW. Free. (202) 483-1102. (Rachel Beckman)
