FRIDAY

You might think that three-and-a-half decades is a long time to hammer on a piece of metal. But the monotony hasn’t stopped Don Conreaux. The certified Gong Master has been banging away ever since 1969, taking his act to venues as diverse as the center of Stonehenge and President Clinton’s inauguration. But why gongs? His own words, quoted from an International Center for Holistic Resonance bio, suggest that the seeming monotony leads somewhere: “The thrust of my work is to demonstrate and explain the importance of the ancient gong in today’s world, not only through the diversity of its powerful entertainment value, but by introducing its philosophy, relevance, and application” to other fields. Not to mention its vibes. Feel Conreaux’s at 5:30 p.m. at DCYoga, 1635 Connecticut Ave. NW. $35. (202) 232-2926. (Aaron Leitko)
