Health Department Says: no certified food manager on premises

Business Says: Dahlak owner Danian Mesifeni says he was in the middle of the food-manager-certification course when the city shut his restaurant down. Mesifeni says that he alerted his customers to the situation, hanging a sign in the window that stated, “Because of the license, we are closed.” (At 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 17—before Mesifeni was reached for comment—the Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant was locked up with no sign indicating why.) “Yeah, we lose the money,” he says. “What can I do? That’s the law.”
