History: Lyon was closed Aug. 27, 2001, for unclean food-contact surfaces and equipment, as well as basic inadequate sanitation.
Health Department Says: evidence of rodents; no certified food supervisor; operating a food establishment under circumstances that may endanger public health
Business Says: Owner Gerardo Del Cerro says that the inspectors came but denies that the city closed his bakery: “No; zero; not at all,” he says. He also denies that Lyon has any sort of rodent problem. Although Del Cerro is not a certified food supervisor himself, he says that one of his managers is, and he’s sticking to his story that Lyon wasn’t closed: “That’s a fact that can be confirmed by any of our customers. We [are] still delivering every day.”
