Health Department Says: interruption of water service
Business Says: Yeah, yeah—we know, we know. Store manager Andres Canales says that the restaurant recently opened up a large section of its floor in order to fix a damaged pipe. He says that the health department just happened to show up during the early stages of the involved repair process. “When they came, we knew the problem,” Canales says. “We were waiting for the plumber to come.” Although the Popeye’s was forced to close because of the pipe issue, Canales says a formal citation wasn’t really necessary. “The hole is a big one,” he says. “It’s near the kitchen, so we had to close anyway—the people working on the plumbing had to have enough space.”
