At the very least, Sean Altman’s Jewmongous has the benefit of a captive audience to draw on: Christmas Eve is usually reserved on Jewish calendars for the anticipatory excitement of the next day’s annual Chinese-food-and-a-movie festivities and absolutely nothing else. Following the What I Like About Jew split, Altman and his former partner Rob Tannebaum (Good for the Jews) are now flogging the exact same songs in different formats, so now you’ll have to be, um, Jewdicious about how to direct your entertainment dollars. Or you can be a total mensch and support both: The fractured tour through Jewish history on They Tried to Kill Us (We Survived, Let’s Eat) is a hoot in any form. Expect a performance of Altman’s klezmer-saturated Ramones cover “I Wanna Be Sedated,” a nod to his salad days in Rockapella and at least a hundred egregious Jewish puns. The performanceS begin at 7 & 9:30 p.m. at Jammin’ Java, 227 Maple Ave. East, Vienna. $20. (703) 255-1566.
