It’s not that local jazz musician and “All-Star Christmas Day Jazz Jam” host Chuck Redd is a grinch. It’s just that—year after year—he decides to celebrate Christmas in his own way: namely, belting out some jazz jams on his vibraphone. Now in its 10th year, this installment of the annual Kennedy Center tradition will feature Redd joined by pianist Robert Redd, drummer Lenny Robinson, trumpeter Tom Williams, bassist James King, and vocalist Delores Williams. That’s certainly better company than, say, the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future—and even the harshest of holiday specters would have a hard time arguing that Redd hasn’t given the D.C.-area music community a pretty hefty gift each Christmas. The performance begins at 6 p.m. at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, 2700 F St. NW. Free. (202) 467-4600.
