Six Organs of Admittance makes evil New Age music. By pairing dexterous fingerpicking with not-so-subtle psychedelic flourishes, Six Organs’ Ben Chasny composes music that’s two parts Windham Hill and one part H.P. Lovecraft. The recently released Shelter From the Ash strolls down an Eastern-tinged pseudo-spiritual path that wouldn’t be wholly unfamiliar to Robbie Basho, but the destination is a little more sinister: Chasny’s world is a place where gentle arpeggios and folk melodies give way to Iron Maiden guitar-monizing, opium-haze drones, and—in all likelihood—the spooky shaman from Oliver Stone’s The Doors. Six Organs of Admittance performs at 9 p.m. at Iota Club & Cafe, 2832 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. $12. (703) 522-8340.
