Far removed (at least spiritually) from the trendy herds on M Street and past the fashionable boutiques along Wisconsin Avenue, Thomas Sweet beckons like a mini-mecca for tired, sugar-loving shoppers, parents, children, and college kids alike. The shop proudly carries many varieties of fudge and ice cream, but what distinguishes it is its frozen yogurt. Enter the store, and you immediately face a row of yogurt machines, pouring out an assortment of flavors, all of which taste exactly as they should. That’s not damning with faint praise, either, given all those fro-yos out there that taste like Dow Chemical chocolate or some mysterious berry. The recent selection at Thomas Sweet included Oreo, peanut butter, vanilla, chocolate, peppermint, strawberry, Snickers bar, and fudge brownie. Tough choice.
