In addition to keeping the shows coming at Curator’s Office on 14th Street, Andrea Pollan has been busy elsewhere. She co-curated the Gene Davis retrospective at the center of last year’s District-wide ColorField.remix festival—which she titled and expanded to include commercial art galleries. Pollan is also curating the 5th Evergreen Outdoor Sculpture Biennial, hosted by the Johns Hopkins University’s Evergreen Museum, and the Biennial Juried Exhibition at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. That, in addition to participating in national and international art fairs, makes her a busy curator. But it’s her support for local artists, and in particular young conceptual and performance artists like Kathryn Cornelius whose work is less commercially palatable, that makes Pollan noteworthy.
