The reasons to shop at boutiques: The styles are more original and there are fewer pieces; your money is going to people (sometimes the ones you’re looking at) instead of some mammoth chain. The reason not to shop at boutiques: the prices. But Nana’s prices are reasonable enough that you’ll get a lot for that paycheck. The U Street store carries women’s clothing and accessories, along with a long rack of vintage pieces. There’s a small supply of each design, so if you’re a medium, you better stop by often to catch something in your size. But at least you’ll avoid the embarrassment of running into someone wearing the same thing as you. Throw in the indie-rock soundtrack and possibly the nicest, most helpful staff in the city, and you won’t think twice about throwing a Hobo bag on top of the sailor pants you just bought.
