It’s easy to mistake the members of Forever in Terror for boys masquerading as veteran metalheads: Metal Blade signed the band in 2006, before any of its members were old enough to vote, and lead guitarist Glenn Moore looks like a Judd Apatow regular. But angelic haircuts can be deceiving, and this Cleveland quintet has chops that would rock Satan’s locker room. Moore and fellow guitarist Nate Marti solo and play the pocket as well as guitarists twice their age. The pair’s wicked guitar work, along with Chris Bianchi’s vicious growling, drummer Nick Borukhovsky’s snappy drums, and bassist Josh Owen’s chest-thumping bottom lines, has transformed these garage tinkerers into metalcore headliners. What they lack in experience and lyrical originality, they more than make up for with stage presence and inspired breakdowns.
