Electric Six’s success has been stoked as much by its imagery as by its disco-inflected brand of trash rock: After all, this is a band that proudly deals in power-surging crotches and bustiers, the ghost of Freddie Mercury, and a gang of Abe Lincoln look-alikes acting out every imaginable anal innuendo. So the title of the band’s new album, Flashy, seems appropriate, and it sounds like the perfect album for the viral-video world. They take a few funny, absurdist whacks at celebrity culture and oversexed men, which will look great on YouTube eventually. But songs like “Formula 409” (about the cleaning solution, though there’s an innuendo in there somewhere) prove they can get by on music alone.
THE ELECTRIC SIX PERFORM WITH LOCAL H AND FALL ON YOUR SWORD AT 8 P.M. AT THE BLACK CAT, 1811 14TH ST. NW. $15. (202) 667-4490.
