There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Deleted Scenes isn’t hurting for love from the local press. So why use this space to heap yet more praise on the band? Because the boys of Deleted Scenes are headed to Austin, Texas, for South by Southwest, and there’s a good chance they won’t come back the same. Locavores should be proud of milestones like this one: A really hot show could lead to a beer commercial or a cameo on Gossip Girl! The sad-pants indie outfit that sprung from the rocky soil of Olney could blossom into household rock deities, their surnames spoken in the same hushed tones as MacKaye, Garza, and Brown. Sure, there are hundreds of no-to-medium-namers at SXSW, but the annual music festival might prove to be Deleted Scenes’ big break—all the more reason to catch the band at its last D.C. show before its members start showing up to gigs with bodyguards.
