Apparently, Barack Obama’s New New Deal was just a little too much for the libertarians to bear. The Sons of John Locke will gather next week at the Cato Institute to discuss their latest plot to elude the tyrrany of government: creating giant, floating sovereign nations in the middle of the ocean. It’s called “Seasteading”—homesteading in the sea. The forum will feature remarks on the logistical aspects of such an endeavor by project director Patri Friedman, Cato senior fellow Doug Bandow, economist Arnold King, and other people who apparently never read Lord of the Flies in grade school. No word on whether Kevin Spacey’s Lex Luthor will be on hand to discuss his recent attempt to do the very same thing in that awful Superman sequel.
THE PANEL DISCUSSION TAKES PLACE AT NOON AT THE CATO INSTITUTE, 1000 MASSACHUSETTS AVE. NW. FREE. (202) 789-5229.
