Dakshina is continuing its partnership with the Sokolow Foundation and will be featuring Anna Sokolow’s masterpiece Dreams (1961). Lorry May, former soloist and principal with the Sokolow Company will be in residence with Dakshina during the month of April and May.
In addition, Dakshina will be performing Undoing Measures choreographed by New Hampshire based artist Darla Stanley and several vintage Bharata Natyam dances by the world renowned choreographers VP and Shanta Dhananjayan from India. Dakshina’s programs feature a signature presentation of Bharata Natyam, Modern Dance and syncretic fusion works side-by-side and have a strong commitment to social justice issues.
Dakshina is proud to be celebrating Asian Pacific Heritage Month with a series of events in May with the Dance Place show serving as the anchor.
