Kind of a “duh” sentiment, but in a society in which individuals are so often defined by what they do, the intent of The Philosopher Kings makes sense: One custodian at a Florida museum says that conversation stops whenever she tells people what her job is, and the documentary profiles a handful of professional tidiers to showcase the person behind the mop. But insights such as “Love is everything” and “If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will” can be found on Starbucks cups—and though everyone here is amiable enough, in a battle of appeal, the coffee wins.
