Local DJs Andrew Field-Pickering and Ari Goldman know that the only thing better than a night of disco debauchery is a night of free disco debauchery. Spinning collectively as Beautiful Swimmers, the two host Summer Times, a throwback throwdown courtesy of D.C. labels Future Times and Peoples Potential Unlimited. In April of this year the nu-disco duo released “Swimmers Groove,” their debut 12-inch, which drips with cheesy-yet-not-too-much-so synths and drum-machine beats. Since then the pair has been manning turntables at hipster meccas in New York and kitschy pizza joints and pool parties here at home. The single’s flip-side, “O Yea,” does its best to construct a parallel-universe District party scene, where unapologetically ’80s grooves fill steamy dance floors with people in spandex and gold lamé.
SUMMER TIMES WITH BEAUTIFUL SWIMMERS, ANDREW MORGAN, MONDO, AND C ROB STARTS AT 10 P.M. AT COMET PING PONG, 5037 CONNECTICUT AVE. NW. FREE. (202) 364-0404.
