City Paper is not for tourists
What Dimitris George and DJ Tru lack in online prolificacy—their HipsterOverkill.com gets updated only once a week or so with the occasional innocuous mixtape—they compensate for with well-attended DJ nights. Of these, the Fringe—which takes place on the first Monday of every month—is where the two spin the weirdest releases. This week, George has promised to whip out the new EP by British fidget-house maestro Fake Blood (the alias of DJ Touche, the other half of the Black Ghosts), whose mixes feature Exorcist-like vocals, fuzzy bass beats, and—in the case of 2008’s “Mars”—a synthesized mix of a lonely cow lowing, perhaps as it waits for slaughter. George will add his own spin, of course, and Tru will no doubt bring something equally jumpy to the table. Don’t forget your glow sticks.
THE FRINGE BEGINS AT 9 P.M. AT STEVE’S BAR ROOM, 1337 CONNECTICUT AVE. NW. FREE. (202) 299-9630.
