Sorry, D.C. post-hardcore nostalgics: The Jimmy Fallon appearance was probably the last time you’ll see a reunited Jawbox, at least anytime soon. You know what? Fine. J. Robbins, who fronted that band for most of the ’90s and then went on to form Burning Airlines and Channels, clearly isn’t interested in cashing in as a legacy artist; his mind is always racing toward what’s next. That means interesting one-off projects—the song he and Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla wrote and recorded in two days for NPR Music, his performance next month at a Story/Stereo event in Bethesda—and new band after new band. The latest is called the Office of Future Plans. How perfect.
THE OFFICE OF FUTURE PLANS PERFORMS AT 8:30 P.M. WITH ADAM FRANKLIN & BOLTS OF MELODY AND THE JET AGE AT DC9, 1940 9TH ST. NW. $10. (202) 483-5000.
