Chop in the Name of Love: Inside this cavernous Penn Quarter restaurant, a member of the Rock Bottom empire, is a part of the city I rarely encounter, the families in Caps jerseys and Crime Museum tees, ordering vertical towers of finger food. That’s why I love seeing them drink fresh, local beer. Usually in bars like this, you’d be lucky to drink something that wasn’t the color of the breading on your sesame calamari.
Chop Till You Drop: The tooth-kicking bourbon stout, aged in-house in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels, tastes like a mixed drink. So unless you’re the whiskey-rocks type, opt for the regular oatmeal stout, with all of the sweet, creamy body of the boozed-up version. The rotating seasonal is always a good choice too; right now it’s a hoppy tripel, a honeyish Belgian-style ale with an American dose of citrusy hops.
