D.C. poet Danielle Evennou’s chapbook Queen of Tuesdayis all about quirk and funk. She writes with an eye toward excavating the gendered self from the fluid, free-falling space between the lines. Her poems are self-examining without being egocentric; they’re candid and funny as hell. Picture the leather-boots-lovin’ Evennou as Pink at a poetry open mic, but don’t be put off: There’s room for hipsters, experimental artists, doped-out art-school rejects, pump-wearing wordsmiths, and even middle-of-the-road poetry lovers in her words.
