The Points is an all-caps kind of band. Windian Records, the label run by The Points’ drummer, Travis Jackson, is an all-caps kind of label. And to be sure, Jackson—whom you may know by his sobriquets Cobruhhh and Beeronimo—is an all-caps kind of dude. Blog posts, e-mails—it doesn’t matter: The man does not stand for lowercase anything. So expect Windian’s one-year anniversary party to be a rager. The bands—The Shirks, The Ladies, Maybe Baby, and others on Friday; The Points, Two Tears, New Rock Church of Fire, and The Cheniers on Saturday—range from skuzzy to skuzzier. It’ll be punk as fuck, and by Jackson’s measure, so will the next 21 words in this City Lights pick.
THE CONCERT TAKES PLACE 8 P.M. (SAME TIME FRIDAY) AT THE VELVET LOUNGE, 915 U ST. NW. $10 ($16 BOTH NIGHTS). (202) 462-3213.
