THE WILDEST DREAM investigates English mountaineer George Mallory’s obsession with becoming the first person to conquer Mount Everest. Join renowned climber Conrad Anker on his journey to recreate Mallory’s final climb, 85 years after the mountaineer and his climbing partner, Sandy Irvine were last seen 800 feet from the summit. Using 1920’s era clothing and equipment, Anker and climbing partner Leo Houlding retrace Mallory’s original 1924 route in an attempt to solve one of the world’s greatest climbing mysteries—could Mallory and Irvine have reached the top of the world?

Told though Mallory’s poignant and evocative letters to his wife, Ruth, with previously unseen photos and film footage from the 1924 expedition, and Anker and Houlding’s modern-day expedition, THE WILDEST DREAM is an incredible, chilling look at the determination of climbers and the challenges they face in this ultimate test of man vs. nature that will leave you breathless when seen on the Johnson IMAX Theater’s six story screen.

THE WILDEST DREAM opens on Friday, August 6 at the Smithsonian’s Johnson IMAX Theater, located in the National Museum of Natural History.
