With the help of local bloggers Fred Joiner, Nikki Peele, and David Garber, “Anacostia: Never Far From Home” examines the past and present of this historic neighborhood east of the river. Lines bisect the walls connecting scraps of papers, hand-written notes, newspaper clippings, and archival images on loan from the Anacostia Community Museum, the Library of Congress, and elsewhere. It’s an intelligent and at times interactive exhibit that invites visitors to add to it. Though it sometimes feels more history museum than art gallery, this crowd-sourced display is certainly engaging, no matter its genre.
THE EXHIBITION IS ON VIEW 12 P.M. TO 5 P.M. TUESDAY TO FRIDAY AND 11 A.M. TO 5 P.M. SATURDAY TO SEPT. 10 AT THE GALLERY AT VIVID SOLUTIONS, 2208 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. AVE. SE. FREE. (202) 365-8392.
