Success! You're on the list.

Hear the term “Fashion Week,” and you’re probably transported to New York, where impossibly svelte models stalk the runways of internationally acclaimed designers in thousand-dollar dresses as celebrities and Anna Wintour sit rapt. But you don’t have to book it 200 miles to the north to get in on some fashion action—we’ve got our own D.C. Fashion Week. Though the event may lack star power, it at least has variety—designers from places like Peru, Pakistan, Serbia, and Ghana will show off their wares, which range from menswear to bridal. Although I can’t make any promises about the quality of the collections—the fact that some of the designers do prom gowns probably isn’t the best sign—it should be fascinating to see what the locally cultivated talent produces. Some of the clothes will probably even be in your price range.

D.C. FASHION WEEK TAKES PLACE FROM SEPT. 20-26 AT VENUES THROUGHOUT THE CITY. SEE DCFASHIONWEEK.ORG FOR SCHEDULE AND PRICE DETAILS.
