Red is everywhere you look during the holidays—in Santa’s cheeks, Rudolph’s nose, and elves’ hats. Embrace the shade of the season at GWAR’s grandiose gorefest, where the costumed crusaders will spray the audience with gallons of festively colored fake blood. As well as providing concertgoers with this cheery liquid attire, GWAR will also be performing a slew of its most beloved Christmas tunes: “The Insidious Soliloquy of Skulhed Face,” “Crush, Kill, Destroy” and “Slutman City.” Um, sorry, upon further inspection none of these songs have anything to do with silent nights or stockings hung by the chimney with care. Yuletide-loving fans shouldn’t despair though. GWAR actually does have an X-mas original in their repertoire, “Stripper Christmas Summer Weekend.” It’s the perfect carol for red-blooded males who don’t mind getting doused with a little fake blood now and then.
GWAR PERFORMS WITH THE CASUALTIES, INFERNAEON, AND MOBILE DEATHCAMP AT 6 P.M. AT THE 9:30 CLUB, 815 V ST. NW. $22. (202) 265-0930.
