Sunday, May 22
5pm
Kennedy Center Concert Hall
Washington, DC
Highlighted as one of the top five classical concerts of the spring season by the Washington Post’s chief music critic Anne Midgette, Northern Lights journeys through Scandinavia’s masters with favorites from Hugo Alfvén, Edvard Grieg, Carl Nielsen, Arvo Pärt, and Jean Sibelius.
Northern Lights also includes the world premiere of Seven Songs for Planet Earth from leading Finnish composer Olli Kortekangas. Celebrating man’s relationship with nature in its spiritual richness and fragile vulnerability, Seven Songs reminds us all that respect and love for Earth should be seen as a fundamental element of human life.
