July 7 – July 24
Washington, DC
Fringe lives in the present moment. Rebellious and
adventurous. They are asking you to cast aside your burdens
and be in this moment with us.
This year you will find Capital Fringe nestled between two historic DC
neighborhoods: Penn Quarter and Mount Vernon Square.
They have taken up residency in some interesting spaces: a
former cigar shop that has been vacant since the 1968 riots,
a German cultural institute, an old restaurant, a historic
church and a long-standing, independent performance venue.
Capital Fringe’s mission is to connect exploratory artists with adventurous audiences by creating outlets and spaces for creative, cutting-edge, and contemporary performance in the District. Capital Fringe’s vital programs ensure the growth and continued health of the local and regional performing arts community by helping artists become independent producers while stimulating the vibrant cultural landscape in our city.
Capital Fringe Festival is the only major unjuried, self-producing, open-access Festival in the Washington, DC area and occurs in July each year. The Fringe Festival provides all artists, whether new or established, a venue to express and develop their talents and artistic visions in total freedom.
