D.C. might not be known as the most sartorially adventurous town (sneakers and suits come to mind) but, nonetheless, the folks at ReadysetDC are aspiring to dress up the District. The culturally savvy media group has organized “fashion:district” to showcase “style, design and entrepreneurship” in local fashion, and the series hosts its fourth show and get-together today. Style is at the top of the agenda with a fashion show, fashion-inspired art by local artists, and a special vintage trunk show with designers Butler + Claypool. But while celebrating diversity and innovation in local style is a respectable goal, the event is being billed as a “summer mixer” complete with live music and—bonus!—specialty cocktails from a bar on-site.

fashion:district” takes place from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lamont Bishop Gallery, 1314 9th St. NW. Free.
