It’s not easy being a “third place” on Wilson Boulevard. Since its opening one year ago, Artisphere has struggled to mesh with Rosslyn’s corporate landscape—a noble fight, to be sure, but one that’s resulted in lower-than-projected attendance numbers for the venue, a public-private partnership backed by the Arlington Arts Commission. Nonetheless, Artisphere has steadily offered intriguing, palatably weird programming. Entertainment at its first birthday bash, dubbed “The 1 Party,” adheres to the theme: A site-specific video work by local artist Brian Stansfield will light up the building’s Dome; area electronic music producers Volta Bureau, Alvin Risk, and Hays Holladay will perform; Arijit Das will oversee a mural creation; and Brightest Young Things will sponsor. The shindig should garner plenty of camera clicks and, hopefully, give Rosslyn its biggest art-party shot in the arm to date.

“The 1 Party” begins at 8 p.m. at Artisphere, 1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. $15-30. (703) 875-1100.
