Abe Pollin got more credit for rebuilding Chinatown than he deserved. There ain’t an arena in Columbia Heights, for example, and that ’hood has has a pretty dramatic revitalization, too. For hours before and after faceoffs, streets, bars, and restaurants filled with guys and gals in Semin, Green, Backstrom, and Ovechkin jerseys. The psychic benefits of having Abe’s building downtown seemed at least as bountiful as any fiscal perks.
