Comedy fans who dislike comedy clubs, rejoice: Tonight, Baltimore collective Wham City brings their Wonder Showzen-, Tim and Eric–, and Everything is Terrible!-inspired anti-comedy show to house venue Subterranean A. The group is touring on their newest “seminar” series, in which they cover hot topics like making money and the effects of alien advertising on humans. The six-plus-member group is better known as the comedy realm of Dan Deacon’s artistic amoeba, but Wham City is also a true democratic art collective that embraces visual art, film, and all kinds of comedy. Consequently, their act—like a modern-day Vaudeville crossed with a TED Talk send-up, a choose-your-own-adventure book, and an improv show—is difficult to categorize. But there’s a good chance it offers something for everyone, as long as everyone opens their minds. Wide.
The show begins at 8 p.m. at Subterranean A. $8. Visit subterranean-a.tumblr.com for more information.
