Comet Ping Pong is better known for its rock shows, booked by promoter Sasha Lord, but it may also be the closest thing that part of Chevy Chase has to a boozy community living room. Tonight, the pizza place kicks off October with a double bill of horror movies that begins with John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween—a story about a psychopath butchering teens on Halloween for having sex, doing drugs, etc.—and ends with Trick ’r Treat—a 2007 anthology film that tells four stories of psychopaths butchering teens on Halloween for having sex, doing drugs, etc. Drink specials abound in the back room with $2 PBR’s, $4 Abitas, and $4 Jim Beam shots—because it’s only fun to watch this shit drunk. The event is also a stark reminder that Halloween is less than a month away, meaning you’ve got fewer than 30 days to perfect your “politico hipster” costume.
The films show at 8 p.m. at Comet Ping Pong, 5037 Connecticut Ave. NW. Free. cometpingpong.com. (202) 364-0404.
