If there was ever any doubt which attorney members of the D.C. Council were most likely to turn to in their time of need, 2012 settled that question for good. Fred Cooke Jr. had a supporting role in all three major federal investigations in D.C. politics. He was at the side of Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr. and former D.C. Council Chairman Kwame “Fully Loaded” Brown, as well as Thomas Gore, the campaign treasurer for Mayor Vince Gray, when all three men trudged into federal court to plead guilty to their various crimes. Cooke has also previously represented Jeff Thompson, the alleged financier of Gray’s “shadow campaign,” as well Councilmembers Marion Barry and Michael Brown in other matters. The big question: Who else will Cooke escort to the courthouse in 2013?
Cooke Jr., Fred
