Most observers of the holiday get their Christmas hog in the form of a ham dinner, but AFI offers another porcine option today: Miss Piggy. As part of its annual series of holiday films, the theater is bringing back the family-friendly A Muppet Christmas Carol, alongside seasonal standbys like It’s a Wonderful Life and Holiday. If that lineup has you rolling your eyes, AFI plans to show some bleaker classics, too, including Sunset Boulevard, and The Godfather Part II—for the truly blackhearted among us who associate Christmas with deluded aging film stars and mafia killings.
The films screen throughout the day at the AFI Silver Theatre, 8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring. $7-$11.50. (301) 495-6700. afi.com/silver.
